The majority of the Slavic population in the United States is concentrated in the states of New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. In 2018, New York had the highest number of Slavic Americans with a population of 1,068,413, followed by Pennsylvania with 846,841 Slavic Americans, and Illinois with 709,932. Other states with large Slavic populations include Ohio, Michigan, and California.
The Slavic population in the United States is highly educated, with 28.1% of Slavic Americans holding a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to 30.3% of the national population.
The majority of Slavic Americans are employed in professional and technical occupations, with almost a quarter of the population working in management, business, and financial occupations.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Slavic population in the Washington area is estimated to be around 320,000 people.
According to the American Community Survey, 2.9% of Washington’s population was identified as being of Slavic ancestry.
The largest Slavic population in the area is the Russian population, with an estimated 155,000 people. The second largest Slavic population is the Ukrainian population, with an estimated 75,000 people. The third largest Slavic population is the Polish population, with an estimated 65,000 people.
