About Spokane Slavic Association
Spokane Slavic Association (SSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Spokane, Washington, connecting individuals and families with resources, opportunities, and community support.
Founded in 2021, SSA has grown from a grassroots community initiative into a multifaceted organization serving Spokane and surrounding communities.
Our roots are in Spokane's Slavic community, but SSA's services and opportunities are open to everyone, subject to eligibility requirements that may apply to individual programs or funding sources.
What we do
What We Do
SSA works to reduce barriers to resources and create opportunities for individuals and families to build greater stability and self-sufficiency.
Our work is organized through five strategic areas:

International Resource Center & Community Services
Connecting people with essential resources, navigation assistance, language and document services, and other forms of community support.

Workforce & Economic Mobility
Helping individuals strengthen employment skills, connect with employers, and pursue greater economic stability.

Business Development Center
Supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses through education, assistance, networking, promotion, and opportunities for growth.

Youth & Family Engagement
Creating educational, recreational, cultural, and social opportunities for children, youth, women, and families.

Communications & Community Engagement
Connecting the community through trusted information, outreach, stories, media, events, and opportunities for participation.
Our story
Rooted in Community
SSA was created by community members who saw needs around them and decided to respond.
That community-driven spirit continues to shape the organization today.
Our work brings together individuals and families, volunteers, businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, healthcare organizations, foundations, and other partners.
These relationships help SSA connect people with resources that already exist, develop new opportunities where gaps remain, and strengthen connections throughout the community.
Open to everyone
Serving a Diverse Community
SSA has deep roots in the Slavic community of Spokane County—a large and diverse population representing many countries, languages, cultures, and traditions.
Our experience within this community helps us understand language barriers, unfamiliar systems, access challenges, and other obstacles that can make it difficult for people to find and use available resources.
At the same time, SSA is an inclusive community organization.
You do not need to be Slavic to receive services, participate in programs, volunteer, partner with SSA, or become involved in our work.
Looking ahead
Growing With the Community
SSA continues to grow and adapt as community needs change.
We develop programs, services, partnerships, and sustainable initiatives based on the needs we see, the opportunities available, and our ability to create meaningful community benefit.
Today, SSA combines direct community services with workforce development, business support, youth and family engagement, communications, partnerships, volunteerism, and community initiatives.
What this means
This allows the organization to serve people at different stages of their journey — from someone looking for immediate assistance to someone pursuing employment, developing a business, strengthening their family, or looking for ways to contribute to the community.
