Who Are the Slavs?

The Slavs are a linguistic and cultural group with a shared history spanning centuries. United by a common Indo-European language family, Slavic people have evolved into three main branches: West Slavic, East Slavic, and South Slavic.

Contrary to common misconceptions, being Slavic is not tied to a single nationality. Instead, it represents a rich and diverse cultural heritage that spans multiple countries. Spokane County is home to 60,000+ Slavs, making it one of the largest Slavic communities in the region.
