Employment can provide more than income. It can create stability, independence, professional growth, stronger connections, and new opportunities for individuals and families.
Workforce & Economic Mobility helps community members prepare for employment, strengthen practical skills, improve workplace communication, connect with employers, and identify pathways toward long-term professional and economic growth.
Whether someone is entering the U.S. workforce for the first time, returning to work, looking for a better opportunity, or preparing for career advancement, SSA helps identify practical next steps.
Employment & Career Services
Find Opportunities. Prepare for Employment.
Employment & Career Services helps participants navigate the employment process and connect with potential opportunities. Services may include job search assistance, resume development, application help, interview preparation, career planning, employment referrals, workplace communication, and connections with employers and workforce partners.
Workforce Skills & Professional Development
Build Skills. Create More Options.
SSA provides practical workshops, training opportunities, and connections to community education and certification resources. Opportunities may include workplace readiness, digital skills, professional communication, career development, employment-related financial literacy, and paid training or work-based learning when funding allows.
English for Work & Community
Practice English. Build Confidence.
English for Work & Community provides practical opportunities for adults to strengthen conversational and workplace English in a welcoming environment — English Conversation Club, workplace English, interview communication, movies and discussion, and social conversation. The emphasis is on using English in real situations, not simply studying it in a classroom.
A Connected Workforce Pathway
The three programs are designed to work together.
Someone may begin by asking for help finding a job and discover that improving a resume or practicing an interview would help.
Another participant may already be employed but want stronger English or digital skills to qualify for a better position.
Someone else may need specialized training or certification before entering a new career.

But there is no single path.
Participants can enter at the point that makes sense for their circumstances and goals.
Connecting Community Talent With Local Employers
Workforce development works best when job seekers and employers are connected.
SSA works to build relationships with businesses, employers, workforce organizations, educational institutions, and other community partners.
Employer engagement may include:
- Sharing job opportunities
- Community recruitment and outreach
- Candidate referrals
- Hiring events
- Employer presentations
- Multilingual recruitment outreach
- Connections to workforce resources
- Training partnerships
These relationships can help employers reach new talent while giving community members greater access to employment opportunities.

SSA's community relationships and multilingual outreach can help employers connect with individuals who are actively looking for employment and career opportunities.
Businesses may work with SSA to share openings, participate in hiring activities, meet potential applicants, support workforce training, or develop other workforce partnerships.
SSA is also developing additional employer-supported recruitment and placement services that may be offered on a fee-for-service basis.
Mission-aligned earned revenue from these services can help support free and subsidized workforce assistance for community members.

Getting a job can be an important milestone, but it does not always have to be the final destination.
Economic mobility may mean:

For participants interested in entrepreneurship, SSA's Business Development Center can provide another pathway forward.
Workforce Development Through Partnership
SSA does not need to provide every type of training, certification, or employment resource directly.
Many valuable opportunities already exist through employers, colleges, workforce organizations, government programs, training providers, nonprofits, and other community partners.
Our role may be to provide a service directly, help participants prepare for an opportunity, or connect them with an organization that already has the expertise and resources they need.
This allows SSA to focus on access, preparation, connections, and opportunity while strengthening the broader workforce network.
