Ukrainian Closet

Hard to believe as it sounds, Ukraine is bleeding wounded by invader’s war, and the reverberations of the military conflict are felt not only in Eastern Europe. Millions of people who have been forced to flee Ukraine, most of which women and children, had to look for a safe shelter.

Thousands of refugees found their solace in the United States, and many of them got a roof and care in the Spokane area.

Luckily, we were ready to welcome them here, and with the help of the so-called Ukraine’s Closet, Spokane community could provide the refugees with clothes and other aid, while six houses were fully furnished with furniture and household items, kindly donated by our donors.

Zhanna Oberemok, the founder of Ukraine’s Closet says that the contributions of the Spokane community make her emotional, and she believes it is ‘very generous’ of the community, how everyone showed up for the Ukrainian refugees.

“This is extremely generous of them. It’s every day, I get goosebumps. Every time, when somebody brings stuff, this is for the Ukrainians, this is for the Ukrainians, it’s amazing because people have been so generous,” Zhanna said.

As the war goes on, Ukraine’s Closet keeps accepting and offering donations. They operate out of a storefront located at 9431 N Division, Spokane, WA, 99218, and everyone is welcome to bring their contribution, big and small. If you would like to donate, call us now at (509) 919 – 6414, or drop us a line on the Donate page.

It is truly heartwarming to see how kind people can be to those in need. Unfortunately, no matter how far refugees go, they cannot escape heartbreak, get their home back, nor bring back to life their loved ones who are now lost forever. The hearts of all rational human beings in the world go out to the people of Ukraine, no matter where they are, and we urge you to join us too at Spokane Slavic Association in our effort to help.
