Sustaining Slavic Culture

Celebrating our heritage. Inspiring future generations.

Overview

At Spokane Slavic Association, preserving and promoting Slavic culture is one of our core commitments. We believe that culture is not only something we inherit—but something we share, celebrate, and pass on.
Through creative programs, family engagement, and Russian-language events, we help ensure the rich cultural heritage of Slavic people continues to thrive in Spokane County and beyond.

Our Cultural Programs

New Year Celebration for Kids

Each year, we organize a joyful New Year party rooted in Slavic traditions for children and families in our community. This festive event includes:

  • Cultural games and music
  • Traditional costumes and performances
  • Gifts and surprises for kids
  • An introduction to Slavic customs around the winter holidays

This event brings together families and helps younger generations experience and appreciate their cultural roots.

Craft Classes for Kids and Parents

We host hands-on craft classes that allow children and their parents to engage in traditional-style activities together. These family-friendly workshops help:

  • Personalized career assessments and planning
  • Resume writing and interview preparation
  • Support in identifying strengths, goals, and career paths

Russian-Language Events for Kids

Language is key to maintaining cultural identity. We organize a variety of events conducted in Russian, such as:

  • Storytime and reading sessions
  • Cultural games and activities
  • Educational programs designed to help kids stay connected to their native language

These programs encourage kids to practice their Russian in a fun, community-based environment.

Why It Matters

Culture connects us to who we are. It gives our children a sense of pride in their roots and reminds our community of its strength and richness. By celebrating Slavic traditions—especially with our youth—we are preserving a legacy that will continue to grow for generations.
