Women's Programs & Community

Connect. Share. Stay Active.

Community connection matters at every stage of life.

SSA's Women's Programs & Community creates opportunities for women to meet others, build relationships, share experiences, learn, stay active, and participate in community life.

Activities are designed around connection rather than a single type of service and may include social gatherings, educational activities, wellness opportunities, recreation, workshops, and community experiences.

Circle of Wisdom

Circle of Wisdom is a community initiative primarily designed for women age 45 and older.

It creates a welcoming space where women can meet regularly, communicate, develop friendships, participate in activities, and share knowledge and experiences.

Activities may include:

  • Social gatherings
  • Group discussions
  • Educational presentations
  • Creative activities
  • Community outings
  • Wellness activities
  • Walking and outdoor activities
  • Cultural activities
  • Celebrations
  • Guest speakers

The specific format changes depending on participant interests, season, available resources, and community partnerships.

More Than an Event

Social isolation can happen even when someone lives in a large community.

Moving to a new country, changes in family life, retirement, language barriers, or simply having fewer opportunities to meet new people can make maintaining meaningful social connections more difficult.

SSA creates spaces where women can meet naturally through shared experiences.

The goal is not simply attendance.

It is relationship-building and continued community participation.

Learn & Share

Every participant brings knowledge and life experience.

Women's activities may create opportunities to both learn from professionals and learn from one another. Topics may include health and wellness, personal development, community resources, family topics, financial education, culture, creativity, recreation, everyday life, and other topics identified by participants.

Specialized information may be presented by appropriate professionals or partner organizations.

Active & Outdoors

Community connection does not always need four walls.

SSA may organize walking groups, hiking, park activities, outdoor recreation, community trips, seasonal activities, and other opportunities to explore the region together.

These activities combine movement, social connection, recreation, and new experiences.

New Connections Can Start Anywhere

A conversation at an SSA gathering can become a friendship.

A workshop can introduce a useful resource.

A walk can become a regular activity.

A participant can eventually become a volunteer or help organize the next gathering.

We want women's programs to develop with the people participating in them—not simply for them.

  • Volunteers
  • Activity leaders
  • Speakers
  • Mentors
  • Organizers
  • Community partners

Have an idea for an activity or something you would like to share with the group? We would like to hear it.
