SSA brings community members, organizations, businesses, professionals, volunteers, and
leaders together through events, conversations, outreach, and opportunities to
participate.
Community Engagement & Events creates spaces where people can meet, exchange information, discuss community issues, build relationships, and become more involved in the community around them.
Community Events
SSA organizes and participates in events designed to connect people with one another and with useful information and opportunities.
Activities may include:
Community gatherings
Information events
Public presentations
Community forums
Partner events
Outreach events
Cultural events
Community meetings
Special community initiatives
Volunteer activities
Some events are organized directly by SSA, while others are developed together with community partners.
The Slavic Leaders Town Hall creates an opportunity for leaders, organizations, professionals,
businesses, faith communities, and other community stakeholders to exchange information and
discuss issues affecting the community.
Topics may include
Emerging community needs
Available resources
Community events
Organizational updates
Opportunities for collaboration
Public information
Community concerns
Upcoming initiatives
The goal is not to create another organization. It is to improve communication and cooperation among people and organizations already serving and participating in the community.
Many organizations serve the same community without always knowing what others are doing.
SSA works to strengthen communication among nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, schools, healthcare organizations, faith communities, foundations, community groups, professionals, and volunteers.
Better connections can reduce duplication, identify gaps, create partnerships, and help organizations refer people to appropriate resources.
Community Outreach
Not everyone learns about opportunities through a website or social media.
SSA may participate in festivals, community gatherings, partner events, outreach activities, and other public settings to meet people where they already are.
Outreach can help us:
Share community information
Introduce SSA programs
Connect people with resources
Gather feedback
Meet potential partners
Recruit volunteers
Build community relationships
Organization-Wide Community Events
SSA also develops larger events that bring together different parts of the organization and broader community.
These may include major community celebrations, festivals, fundraising activities, and other special events.
Because these events can involve multiple SSA pillars, partners, sponsors, volunteers, and audiences, they are considered organization-wide initiatives rather than belonging exclusively to one program.
Communications & Community Engagement helps make those events visible and accessible to the community.
Community participation
Community Participation
Engagement is not only about attending an event. Community members can participate by:
Volunteering
Sharing ideas
Attending community meetings
Providing feedback
Becoming a partner
Hosting or supporting an activity
Sharing professional expertise
Sponsoring an event
Connecting SSA with resources
Helping welcome others
Strong communities are built when people move from simply receiving information to actively participating.
Listen. Connect. Collaborate.
Community engagement also gives SSA an opportunity to listen.
Conversations, surveys, meetings, events, and partnerships help us understand what people are experiencing and where opportunities or gaps may exist.
That feedback can influence future programs, partnerships, outreach, and organizational priorities.
Partner on an event
Partner on an Event
SSA welcomes collaboration with organizations, businesses, agencies, institutions, and community groups when an event or initiative creates meaningful value for the community and aligns with our mission.
Community engagement completes an important cycle:
InformConnectParticipateCollaborateStrengthen Community
Someone may first discover SSA through a social media post.
They may attend an event.
At that event they may meet another organization.
Later they may volunteer.
Eventually they may become a partner, sponsor, mentor, or community leader.
That is why communication and engagement are not simply promotional activities.
They are part of how community connections are built.
Bring People Together.
Communication creates awareness. Engagement creates relationships. Discover an event, meet
another organization, or become part of the network of people building this community together.
