Communications & Community Engagement

Community Information & Outreach

Helping People Find Information, Resources & Opportunities.

A resource only helps when people know it exists.

Events only build community when people hear about them.

Opportunities only create impact when they reach the people who can benefit from them.

SSA's Community Information & Outreach helps connect community members with useful information about resources, programs, events, opportunities, organizations, and services throughout Spokane and surrounding communities.

Information That Helps People Take the Next Step

SSA shares information related to areas such as:

Information may be shared through SSA's website, social media, email, community events, printed materials, direct outreach, and partner networks.

Multilingual community communication

Multilingual Community Communication

Important information can become inaccessible when it is available only in a language someone does not fully understand.

Because of SSA's roots and relationships within multilingual communities, we work to make selected community information more accessible through culturally and linguistically appropriate communication.

Depending on the initiative, information may be shared in

  • English
  • Russian
  • Ukrainian
  • Other languages when appropriate and available

Our goal is not simply to translate words. It is to help make information understandable, relevant, and easier to act on.

Community Calendar

One Place to Discover What's Happening.

SSA's Community Calendar helps people discover events, workshops, activities, programs, and other opportunities happening throughout the community.

The Calendar can include both SSA activities and relevant events organized by other organizations.

This allows SSA to help connect people with opportunities even when we are not the organization providing them.

Public information campaigns

Public Information Campaigns

SSA may partner with government agencies, healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and other institutions to help important public information reach communities that can otherwise be difficult to reach through traditional communication channels.

Campaigns may include

  • Multilingual educational materials
  • Social media outreach
  • Community presentations
  • Videos
  • Interviews
  • Events
  • Direct community outreach
  • Partner distribution
  • Community feedback

These partnerships combine institutional information with SSA's community relationships and communication channels.

Community Announcements

Businesses, nonprofits, agencies, schools, community groups, and other organizations often have information they want to share with the community.

SSA may help distribute relevant announcements when they align with our mission, audience, and communication guidelines.

Publication or distribution is not guaranteed, and promotional or commercial content may be subject to separate requirements or fees.

Listening Is Part of Communication

Community communication should work in both directions.

SSA may use surveys, feedback forms, community meetings, social media engagement, conversations with participants, partner feedback, and community listening activities to better understand needs, interests, concerns, and emerging opportunities.

This information can help SSA improve existing programs and identify areas where new partnerships or initiatives may be useful.

Help information reach the community

Help Information Reach the Community

Are you an organization, agency, business, or community partner with information that could benefit the people SSA serves?

Let's explore how we can help connect that information with the community.

Inform. Connect. Participate.

Good communication can turn information into action. Information → Awareness → Access → Participation. SSA works to make those connections easier.
